On our way to Uzbekistan we had a stopover in Istanbul for 4 days. We stayed over Ramadan, the time when the Islamic world is fasting from dawn to sunset. they go to pray in their beautiful mosques and you can feel them live their religion.
Last service is at 21 hrs. We were allowed to attend all services and could pray to God which the Muslims call Allah.
Afterwards we attended the huge fair around Sultan Achmed mosque. A real festival for eyes, nose ad mouth. No alcohol of course but many happy people, families, singles dating, friends walking together. I was so happy to be with them at that special time and can only recommend it.
